Specklebelly Goose and Duck Hunt Arkansas

Specklebelly Goose and Duck Hunt Arkansas

Delaplaine, Arkansas

January 12th-14th

Speck and duck hunting in Arkansas is a classic Delta experience, often starting before sunrise in the cold, still air of flooded timber or open rice fields. Hunters wade or sit hidden among decoys as the first light filters through the trees or glints off shallow water, listening for the whistle of wings overhead. Mallards drop into the timber with a rush, while specklebelly geese—“specks”—work wide circles over the fields, responding to soft yodeling calls. It’s a mix of patience and sudden excitement, where each flock cupping into the spread brings a jolt of adrenaline against the quiet backdrop of the winter marsh.

Sunglasses. Being out in the wide open in the Arkansas flatland's can be tough on your eyes, and for me, can cause a pretty good headache. Do keep in mind to bring a pair that is not real loud in color. Black or brown works great.

Adult beverages. We want you guys to have a great time on your Waterfowl vacation, but we do not provide alcohol of any kind. There is a Liquor store about 5 miles from lodge though. (Arkansas does not sell Alcohol on Sunday's)
